The ESU Centre organises the national debating competition for universities (the John Smith Memorial Mace), the Speech and Debate Squad, which sends university debaters on speaking tours all around the world, and the National Mooting Competition. Many university students also take part as coaches and mentors in the ESU's programmes for schools.
The ESU is also responsible for the coordination of an election for the representative of English universities on the Council of the World Universities Debating Championships.We also administer the Parliamentary Exchange Programme, which offers internships in Washington to British students.
