Speech and Debate Squad selected
Twelve students from British universities have been selected to be members of the ESU Speech and Debate Squad for 2006-7. The Squad carries out teaching tours for ESUs around the world, supporting the ESU's global work in persuasive spoken English.
Alex Just (Oxford) and Fred Cowell (City) will visit Mauritius in March; Tara Mounce (Oxford), Nye Brewer (City), George Molyneaux (Oxford) and Colletta Smith (Durham) will visit Hong Kong in September; Nick Sloboda (City), Ali Cormack (Durham), Hannah Klein (Bristol) and James Dray (Oxford) will visit Japan in October. This year's British National Debate Team, who will tour the US between September and December as part of an exchange that has been running since 1922, are Gavin Illsley (Oxford) and Fraser Campbell (City).
The ESU has already sent teaching support to Lebanon this year, and future overseas Centre work in 2006 will include Russia, Chile, Serbia and Malaysia.
